Alliander sells Stam & Co to Van Gelder
Transaction summary
ALKMAAR, 10 December, 2021 – Alliander Corporate Ventures (“Alliander”) has signed today a definitive agreement to sell Stam & Co, a network infrastructure contractor from Alkmaar, to the Van Gelder Groep (“Van Gelder”).
With the sale of Stam & Co, Alliander bids farewell to its own contractor. This is the result of the new contracting strategy that was launched in 2021. The aim of this contracting strategy is to be capable of realising the growing work package together with contractors at the lowest possible social costs, while maintaining reliability of the grid. The work package has increased enormously in recent times due to increase in housing demand, dismantling of natural gas and making the energy production more sustainable.
Under Van Gelder, Stam & Co can develop further as a full-fledged infrastructure company and achieve more economies of scale. Stam & Co will remain an independently operating company, operating under the same name. All 137 employees will be transferred. Nothing changes for their work. Henri van der Kamp, general manager of the Van Gelder Group, welcomes the new colleagues with open arms. “Just like Stam & Co, Van Gelder is a Dutch family business and has more than 100 years of experience in underground and above-ground infrastructures. The acquisition of this great Alkmaar company fits well within Van Gelder's strategy. In order to be able to continue to contribute in a reliable and professional manner to increasing the network capacity of, among others, DSO Liander, scaling up is necessary. Together with the professionals of Stam & Co, we are working on a future-proof, smart and sustainable infrastructure.
Both parties look forward with great confidence to further cooperation in the future. In this they work together for a sustainable future, with a safe and reliable energy network. The acquisition is still being submitted to ACM for approval.
